  22. It has been found that fragmented files on the hard disk drive of
  23. a server can adversely affect performance.  It is suggested that
  24. you periodically unfragment the files on the hard disk drive of
  25. each server.  This can be done using any of a number of disk
  26. optimizing or disk compression tools available in the market
  27. place.  MAKE SURE THE SERVER IS NOT RUNNING WHEN THIS TYPE OF
  28. OPERATION IS DONE!!!

  30. NEVER run any low-level disk repair utilities on the hard disk
  31. drive of the server while the SERVER is loaded.  This can cause
  32. corruption of data stored on the hard disk drive.  This includes
  33. CHKDSK /F, disk doctor utilities, and disk optimizing utilities. 
  34. Low-level utilities can only be run directly on the server
  35. machine.  You cannot run them from clients that have a drive
  36. mapped to the server.
